Research on governance and institutional performance at the Esoc-Lab
Esoc-Lab has been from the beginning in the forefront of research on multi-level governance and institutional performance. The projects undertaken have successfully expanded upon and incorporated the concept of ‘social capital’ that the core team contributed to develop during the 1980s and early 1990s. Extensive research at the regional and local levels has been carried out in Southern and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Recently, Esoc-Lab has added a research focus on South America and the Middle East.
Esoc-Lab's experience on governance and institutional performance has focused on two lines of research: multi-level governance and social capital and institutional performance.
Below is a list of selected projects in the last decade in both lines of research. For each project the principal investigator(s) and the institutional members of the network comprising Esoc-Lab are identified.
